What skin type do I have?
Facial skin care is essential in our care and beauty routine. However, knowing what type of skin we have can sometimes be quite a mystery.
At akytania we want to help you solve this question, and that's why we've set out to help you identify the skin on your face and find the perfect care routine for you.
There are different types of skin and it is important that you know what yours is like
Did you know that skin is the largest organ in the human body? Not only that, but it is as complex and intelligent as the heart, lungs and other vital organs.
Because of that, there are different types of skin such as dry, normal, oily, sensitive, etc. and each one needs a different care routine. For this reason, we want to help you so that you don't have any more questions and can identify your skin type and the best tips to take care of it perfectly.
You can use different methods to know your skin type
We propose two very simple methods that you can do from home and will help you clear up any doubts:
1) “BARE” FACE METHOD
In order to perform this method, you must first clean the skin of your face with a mild cleanser and dry it slightly. In this way you will be able to have a “naked” face, that is, to have the skin in its natural state without applying any cream or facial treatment.
After 30 minutes, look at your forehead, nose, cheeks and chin and check for shine.
- Then, let another 30 minutes pass, check if your skin feels dry when you smile or make any gesture of expression, then you will have dry skin.
- But if, on the other hand, you see a noticeable shine on your nose and forehead, it is likely that your skin is normal or combination.
- Additionally, if you see shine on the cheeks, surely your skin type is oily.
2) “DRYING SHEET” METHOD
This method is much faster to perform. In addition, we assure you that you will be able to identify your skin type very easily.
With clean facial skin (without makeup), take a cotton or cellulose tissue paper, and dab gently all over your face without dragging.
Take that same paper and hold it up to the light so you can see if there is any grease on it. The result will tell you the following:
- If you don't see much grease on the paper, you have dry skin.
- However, if on paper you see signs of grease absorbed by the areas of your forehead and nose, you have oily skin.
Cleaning and moisturizing are two basic routines for any skin type
Before deciding on a specific routine, we recommend that cleansing and moisturizing be your two standards of care.
Clean skin is synonymous with cared for skin. Daily cleaning will help us avoid possible stains caused by pollution and impurities that we accumulate during the day. This will make our skin more luminous and uniform.
Moisturizing becomes the next step, as whether your skin is dry, combination or oily, it will need adequate hydration to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and keep it looking smooth and healthy.
Hydration, nutrition, sport and mental health
Finally, we want to wink at our main value, the Mediterranean. The importance of drinking water, having healthy eating habits, playing sports, and above all having good mental health are basic pillars so that both your skin and your hair are resplendent. We encourage you to pay attention to the messages that your body gives you and hydrate yourself both inside and out.
